The Significant Other revolves around the invisible ecosystem we are all part of, living as well as non-living. It was filmed and shown in the wide cinerama format, which envelops the audience half or completely. This format was originally used to show landscapes from faraway lands, before it became possible for people to travel and experience these exotic views for themselves. In The Significant Other, a landscape is shown, which at the same time, seems far away and incredibly close. Specialised lenses and camera equipment were utilised to capture a soluble landscape, on a macro level, consisting of mold and bacterial cultures, which are constantly changing, which are not defined by boundaries, but which are everywhere, both outside and inside in our bodies.
